The Fjäll Backpack

Designed over the course of three years with Chamonix local, freeskier and mountain guide Sam Favret, we’re proud to be able to introduce you to our first backcountry icon, the Fjäll.

Designed to meet the exact needs of those who are heading out into the unknown day in, day out, we have created a technical pack that can answer every question posed by mountain exploration, but that doesn’t stray far from our Scandinavian design philosophy meaning its clean enough to travel with. Snow is where we come from -  it’s in our DNA and it’s about time we came back to our roots.

Created in Chamonix - used worldwide

Designed to handle everything you could need on the mountain, the Fjäll is first and foremost a technical pack. The main compartment is dual access, with the back panel opening fully to allow total visibility of your gear.

The external avalanche compartment holds a probe, shovel and other glacier tools and features a designated drainage hole to prevent ice and water build up. An Internal rope compartment, the detachable goggle pocket, the internal mesh pockets and quick access pockets on the flank and hip belt mean you’ll be able to get yourself organized and keep your essentials within reach -  both on and off the mountain.

The pack has been designed around a structured frame that holds its shape when laden with skis or a snowboard. The Fjäll is predominantly an A-Frame carrying pack for split boards and skis, but also gives you the option for a vertical snowboard carry on the face. The structured frame works in tandem with load lifters located on the shoulder straps to transfer weight from the back and distribute evenly across your hips and shoulders.

Ergonomic straps designed to fit over bulky ski jackets and puffers and a removable hip belt add to the Fjäll’s security and comfort. They limit the mobility of the pack on your back but enable you to move freely whether you’re touring, climbing or skiing. Glove friendly buckles and metal hardware means fumbling with cracking plastic is a thing of the past, and even if you stamp on your bag with a crampon, it’s going to be good to go.

We all felt the need for a technical pack that could go to the limits in a pair of crampons, but that didn’t look out of place in sneakers. Why? It’s wasteful to own a bag that can only be used on the mountain.

Rolltop access gives expandable litarage, accommodating bulky items like jackets and helmets with ease, accessible pockets, internal organization and the option for an additional external module all mean this pack is purpose-built to handle life in both the peaks and streets. The Fjäll backpack is compatible with our patented Hook-Up System™ allowing you to daisy chain it to the rest of your Db travel set up for seamless, stress-free travel. It works for a hike with friends in the autumn, it fits in around town on your daily commute and yes, it is compatible with our camera inserts.

The environment that this product is designed for will cease to exist unless we change our ways. The Fjäll has been built with recycled materials and tested to the highest standards. We have constructed the pack in line with our design philosophy pillars; durability, timeless aesthetics, superior functionality and minimized impact. The materials and suppliers selected were driven by data to ensure minimized impact on our environment while not compromising the longevity and performance of the Fjäll. This pack also meets our promise to only design problem solving bags that are needed by our audience.

Camera Insert Compatible

Although the Fjäll is designed predominantly for mountain guides, Sam’s background as an actor and producer of epic ski movies meant that there had to be a creative twist on the technicality of the pack. The Fjäll Backpack is compatible with both our Small and Medium camera inserts, meaning that if shooting in the snow and at altitude is your thing, it can keep your favorite set-up protected and easy to get at.
